Lately, I’ve gotten at least 1 new subscriber a day for the past month or so.
Hello new friends!
I’m rebecca. I draw wobbly lines that explore solitude, identity, and the small, strange patterns of everyday life. This Substack is my quiet space for sketchbook shares, obsessions, unfinished thoughts, and updates on whatever I’m working on.
I recently found out I’m dyslexic, which explains a lot. I’m trying to unlearn perfectionism, one lopsided drawing at a time.
If that sounds like your vibe—stick around.
This Latelies series is where I’ll share sketchbook dumps and something that’s been going on lately (get it?) And in good dyslexic fashion, I had to make up a word.
Oh one more thing— I also make zines (I’ll post about that here too) and organize a local zine club in Columbus, Oh where I’m based out of. Check out
where we share zine spotlights, collabs, resources, and meet-up announcements. I’m louder on that side of the internet.S.P.A.C.E 2025
This past Sunday, I tabled at my first zine fest! I met cool people, bought some cool zines, traded, and was on a panel about organizing comics/zine events in town. Auj from BICC was the best first table buddy I could’ve asked for and their table was full of amazing work by talented creators. Also shout out to Syd from C3! Join their discord too.
Honestly for my first zine fest, I can’t complain! My friends and fellow organizers were so supportive. They really showed up not just for me or for Zine Club Columbus but they really showed up for S.P.A.C.E. These local indie zine fest opportunities need to be supported and protected! We’ll share a zine haul on the Zine Club Columbus in a few weeks.
Here I Go Again
I made a collection of cartoons about “bad habits” called “Here I Go Again” to table with. I wanted to make drawings about my personal patterns (aka flaws) that the algorithm knows I have. I feed it this info I know. I need to train it to feed me cat videos again. Every day someone on Instagram is telling me to fix something about myself— my attachment style, my money habits, my diet, my shampoo, my breathing— it’s more passive aggressive than my older sister after our agree-to-disagree-”conversations.”
If I fixed all these “flaws,” there would be nothing left to draw.
happy to see someone from columbus here! i went to ohio state & miss columbus a lot (: will definitely share the zine with friends who can hopefully get involved!
and THATS on dyslexia!
